OpenSea’s decision to halt secondary sales of the NFT collection for Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money” while the internet is still recovering after her spectacular Super Bowl performance has angered NFT collectors.

Last week, AnotherBlock, a Web3 music service, awarded 0.99% of the song’s total revenues to 300 Ethereum NFTs. One of the song’s producers, Jamil “Deputy” Pierre, contributed to the co-production of the Rihanna song in 2015 and gave a piece of his earnings to the blockchain. Who knows how aware Rihanna actually is of the collection?

The NFT collection sold out rapidly last week, generating around $63,000 in revenue and granting purchasers a percentage of future streaming royalties from the master recording. Two days later, on the eve of Rihanna’s performance at the Super Bowl, AnotherBlock CEO Michel “bigmich” Traore said in the project’s Discord server that customers were unable to trade NFTs on OpenSea, the platform with the biggest volume of NFT trading.

Sunday, the AnotherBlock team said that OpenSea’s automated technology “recognized” the project’s description and delisted it without notifying the team. AnotherBlock stated that it was unclear why the project was designated.

AnotherBlock commented on the project’s description in a Discord message, stating, “We have previously used identical or similar language.”
